Vancouver's West End is a neigbourhood situated in Vancouver's downtown peninsula. The area neighbours Coal Harbour, Yaletown and Stanley Park and the downtown financial and business districts.
The official border of the West End and the definition according to the city of Vancouver comprises the area south of West Georgia Street and the area west of Burrard Street and east of Denman Street. Lots of Vancouverites before and still today refer to the area as being everything from Stanley Park to Burrard Street, together with the Coal Harbour Neighborhood as well as the Stanley Park Area west of Denman Street.
Officially, the Coal Harbour Area is designated as north of West Georgia and west of Burrard. There are newly built areas between the West Pender Street and waterfront which are described as Coal Harbour and are considered separate from the West End.
The West End is home to numerous beaches and parks, like Cardero Park, Aexandra Park, Sunset Beach, Stanley Park and Nelson Park. The sizes of these parks vary in their size. Part of the Stanley Park Seawall promenade extends along the waterfront to Burrard Bridge from Ceperly Park.
English Bay Beach is one more popular area. It is a huge park located on English Bay that is thronged each and every summertime throughout the annual Celebration of Light fireworks display taking place every year in the middle of summer. Among the oldest and biggest health facilities in the city of Vancouver is St. Paul's Hospital. It is located on the eastern edge of the neighborhood on Burrard Street.
Amongst the well-known Community Centre's within the West End consist of Barclay Manor, the West End Community Center, the Vancouver Aquatic Center and the Coal Harbour Community Center.
