The city of Langford sits on Vancouver Island's southern tip, to the west of Victoria. Langford makes up part of the West Shore municipalities and is a prosperous community nestled in the foothills of Mount Finlayson. It borders the District of Highlands, Colwood City, the District of Metchosin, the Town of View Royal and the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area in the Capital Regional District. Langford City proudly considers itself the commercial center of the West Shore. The city showcases several amenities sought after by neighboring residents.

Langford has become the hub of the West Shore's business community by attracting large wholesale and retail stores, many small businesses and different light industrial businesses. They have an ever-growing consumer market because of the city's streamlined re-zoning process.

Langford's people between 2001 and 2006 statistics has continued to flourish with a growth rate of 19.2%, which is due largely to in-migration from different communities on the island. The city of Langford is the fastest growing municipality in the CRD, that is the Capital Regional District.

The progressive Mayor and Council of Langford have been able to invest in community development, due to the steady population and business growth. For the people, the city has created and incorporated more indoor and outdoor recreation choices to help beautify the city roads. There have been a variety of projects which have become possible due to the increased tax base of the city.

Based on Environment Canada, Langford City enjoys wet and frost-free wintertimes, mild and dry summertimes since the city is located on Vancouver Island's southern end. The city of Langford is situated in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains. The city of Langford receives around 620 mm of rain each year, which is significantly lower compared to the 1070 mm average of Vancouver. Based on statistics, the city enjoys a yearly average of 2185 hours of sunshine. The less rain clouds compared to the mainland and the sunny and clear skies mean that the beautiful views of Victoria and the West Shore, the Olympic Mountains and the Juan de Fuca Strait are visible from Langford City throughout the year.

Langford city consists of 3 lakes within its 41.46 square km. The lakes are Florence Lake, Glen lake and Langford Lake. Another popular place is Coldstream Provincial Park. Mill Hill, Thetis Lake regional Parks and Mount Wells are other sites full of relaxation and scenery. The city plays host to both small and large festivals including the Luxton Pro Rodeo and the Summer Festival. Several urban parks and fairgrounds dot the city landscape and play host to numerous activities.
