The arts and culture scene are really prevalent and well-known in Squamish. The most popular ones include: Squamish Writers Group, Visuals-Squamish Valley Artists, Crafts Association of British Columbia, Community Clayworks Studio, British Columbia Arts Council, Whistler Arts Council, and Art BC. The Squamish Valley Artists Society is a non-profit group which supports the education, promotion and development of local visual artists. The Squamish Writers Group is a group of writers - nonfiction, poetry, fiction - that meets approximately twice each month to workshop and motivate each other. Community Clayworks offer a place to provide instruction, courses and workshops. It also enables potters and clay artists of all descriptions to meet and work together. The Craft Council of British Columbia (or likewise known as CCBC) provides leadership in the craft community by promoting and building the development, viability and appreciation of Fine Craft within Canada. The British Columbia Arts Council supports a range of activities which include financial support for arts groups and professional artists, community initiatives, training and scholarships. The Whistler Arts Council (WAC) is a registered charity established in the year 1982 with a mandate to integrate and build arts into the fabric of the Whistler community.

Individuals who are interested in outdoor recreation would find Squamish a good place to visit. They can choose from activities that consist of: Eagle viewing (Squamish has the most number of bald eagles within the globe); Hiking (a popular choice is the Stawamus Chief, which has gorgeous views of Howe Sound and Squamish); Flight Seeing (experience the panoramic view of the city from the air); Snowmobiling (the upper Squamish Valley and Brohm Ridge are favorite locations for snowmobiling in the Squamish area); Horseback Riding (there are trail rides which are guided, with full day, half day, hourly and overnighter rates for horseback riding lovers); Backcountry Skiing (a popular site is the Red Heather hut or the Elfin Lakes hut in the Diamond Head area of Garibaldi Provincial Park, which offers a broad variety of backdrops and terrain which even the nearby Whistler backcountry can't top); Snowshoeing (the mountains surrounding the Squamish community get an average of two thousand three hundred mm of precipitation every year, which means a lot of snow accumulates in winter time); Fishing (various places to visit are Brohm lake and Browning Lake at Murrin Park). Other activities to add are: Rock Climbing, Wind and Kite Surfing, Dirt Biking, Trials Riding, Scuba Diving, Boating and Sailing, Canoeing, White Water Rafting, Sightseeing and Golfing.

The community of Squamish has been currently exploring other avenues of income as they try to transition from tourism. Some of the ideas include: learning institutions or education, high-tech firms, and forestry.
