Oak Street is one of the main north-south roads in Vancouver, B.C. The street runs from a 3-way junction only south of False Creek with 6th Avenue in the north, to the Oak Street Bridge in the south, which leads towards Richmond. The route is a part of Hwy 99 from its crossroads with 70th Avenue southwards. From the Oak Street Bridge to the end, this part is designated as Hwy 99 because of its freeway status in that particular place.
Oak Street is a 6 lane road for most of its length, but for a part at the start of the street at its northern terminus. During this section, the street is 4 lanes wide, running through a really busy commercial district from north to south and passing by the Vancouver General Hospital. Oak Street likewise runs through some expansive districts within Vancouver including Oakridge, Shaughnessy and then and previous to heading to Richmond, to Marpole.
